Indonesia
Sumatra Mandheling Grade 1
High in the Gayo Highlands of Aceh, Indonesia, Koperasi Produsen Sepakat Gergung Coffee brings together 632 smallholder farmers across the Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah subregions. Grown between 1,200 and 1,500 meters, in cool mountain air and fertile soils, this Ateng Super variety is cultivated using traditional shade-grown methods that have long defined coffee farming in Gayo. Founded to strengthen farmers' livelihoods and market access, the cooperative works closely with its members to improve quality through field training, traceability, and sustainable practices — while giving farmers a real voice in community decision-making.
The coffee undergoes traditional Wet Hulled processing, a method distinctive to Indonesia that lends the cup its characteristic body and earthy depth.
To face a changing climate, the cooperative promotes shade-grown systems, protects soil health, and encourages organic matter to keep the land — and the coffee — thriving for generations to come.
