Bugisu AA, Bufumbo Organic Cooperative

Grown on the fertile slopes of Mt. Elgon in Uganda’s Bugisu subregion, this washed Arabica comes from 905 smallholder farmers of the Bufumbo Organic Cooperative Union. At altitudes of 1500–1960 m, volcanic-loam soils and a cool, hilly climate shape a vibrant cup profile. Founded in 1997, the cooperative is dedicated to organic, Fairtrade-certified coffee that improves livelihoods and promotes sustainability. Through agroforestry, soil conservation, and community initiatives like clean water access and education support, Bufumbo invests in its people and environment. Carefully processed through zonal washing stations, this coffee reflects both quality craftsmanship and a strong, community-driven story.
